Nicholas DeNezzo earned a Master of Advanced Studies in marine biodiversity and conservation from Scripps Institution of Oceanography, where he researched human-shark interactions in Southern California and potential non-lethal mitigation methods for reducing threats to beach users. Nick also has a bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Science, specializing in Neuroscience, from the University of California, San Diego.

Prior to joining California Sea Grant, Nick worked as a mental health professional with underprivileged and foster youth, and as an animal care specialist in the rescue and rehabilitation of stranded marine mammals, sea birds, and turtles. He is also a visual artist focused on creative applications for communicating topics in science and conservation.
