Dana Michels will earn a master's degree in biological sciences, with a focus on microbial oceanography, from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in 2021. Dana's thesis investigated phytoplankton ecological trade-offs using proteomic tools.

Dana will work on a variety of coastal and water quality projects for Caltrans District 1, including fish passage assessment, mitigation and monitoring, as well as Coastal Development Permits and guidelines.
