California Ocean Protection Council

Megan Williams earned her MS in Biology from California State University, Northridge in 2021. Her thesis focused on how climate change is shifting community structure of both Caribbean and Pacific coral reefs. Specifically, Megan studied how competitive interactions between coral and a rapidly spreading macroalgae is impacting coral growth and physiology.

As a fellow, Megan will be working within the Climate Change Program at the California Ocean Protection Council. Here, she will support OPC’s efforts to prepare for and adapt to climate change impacts such as ocean acidification, sea-level rise, and offshore wind. Megan is excited to build upon her conservation and academic foundation to become a stronger mediator at the science and policy interface.
