Lian Guo (she/her) is a research coordinator for California Sea Grant’s Science Integration Team where she administers competitive research grants and fellowships, and coordinates the review process for proposals and applications.

As a research coordinator for the Science Integration Team, Lian Guo (she/her) coordinates the competitive research process, including administering the review process for grant proposals and fellowship applications. Guo also has extension programming focused on DDT+ waste in the Southern California Bight and inclusive workforce development in fisheries science.

Based at Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla, Guo’s expertise includes aquatic ecophysiology and conservation in fisheries, aquaculture, environmental toxicology, socio-ecological systems, and molecular biology. She has hands-on experience coordinating research and programming with academic, nonprofit, state, and federal partners to improve the resilience of coastal resources and inclusivity of conservation science and management practices.

Guo received a Ph.D. in organismic and evolutionary biology from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a bachelor’s degree in organismal biology from Scripps College. She is an officer of the Equal Opportunities Section of the American Fisheries Society and is trained as a Climate Ambassador to better communicate climate change issues in fisheries.
