Leilani Konrad will earn a master's degree in geography from San Diego State University in Spring 2020. For her thesis research, Konrad is conducting a dual case study on human perceptions and conflict over the use of beaches by seals in La Jolla, California and Oahu, Hawai'i. She also worked as an intern with the Monterey Bay Aquarium's Sea Otter Research Program during her graduate studies.

During her fellowship, Konrad will help conduct a literature review focusing on climate change impacts to species kept in the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
