Kellan Warner

2022 California Sea Grant State Fellow

Host Agency

California State Coastal Conservancy

Kellan graduated with a Masters of Advanced Studies degree in marine biodiversity and conservation from Scripps Institution of Oceanography in 2021. Her capstone project investigated U.S. imported wild-caught seafood to consider the sustainability of international fisheries and the driving limiting factors that hinder a more sustainable fisheries system. During her graduate studies, she also used acoustic data to research the impacts of the pandemic (i.e. less noise pollution) on humpback whale song duration in the Santa Barbara Channel.

As the State Coastal Conservancy South Coast Fellow, Kellan will help support the Southern California Wetlands Recovery Project, the Coastal Resilience Network, and the Climate Ready program. She is excited for the collaborative nature of these projects and to learn the intricate details of habitat restoration and climate adaptation.
