Gene DePuy

Gene is a 2021 graduate of Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego. Their capstone project, Cooperative Research for Climate Resilience, is a training aimed at researchers in the geosciences who want to build or improve their relationships with communities and community involvement in science. Gene held this training virtually in partnership with Women and Minorities in Science (WMIS) at Scripps Institution of Oceanography in December 2021.

A former chief of operations with a background in teaching, organizing, and outreach, Gene is planning to spend this year diving into marine management policy. They hope to continue their work advancing justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in the policy realm.
