Dulce Cortez will graduate with a master's degree in interdisciplinary marine and estuarine science from San Francisco State University's Estuary and Ocean Science Center in summer 2020. Cortez's research focuses on sediment dynamics.

In her fellowship, Cortez will continue working on the redevelopment of the Chula Vista Bayfront and help with wetland restorations. She will also be focusing on revegetating disturbed shorelines with native vegetation.
