Anna N. Rasmussen

Anna Rasmussen earned her PhD in Earth System Science from Stanford University in 2022. Her dissertation research focused on the connection between microbial ecology and nitrogen-cycling in the nutrient-rich waters of San Francisco Bay. Using DNA, RNA, nitrification rate, and historical water quality data, she characterized the dynamics of archaea blooms and nitrite accumulation in South San Francisco Bay.

For her fellowship, Rasmussen will support the Adapting to Rising Tides Program and the implementation of the Bay Adapt plan, a regional strategy to protect people and the natural and the built environment from a rising Bay.
