Tuna Harbor Fishermen's Festival

DateSaturday, May 18, 2019 | 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Location

Join us on the pier for a very special edition of Tuna Harbor Dockside Market, San Diego’s popular, fishermen-run, open-air seafood market!

California Sea Grant Extension Specialist Theresa Talley and Research Assistant Nina Venuti will host a touch table and lead a fish printing activity, allowing visitors to meet live seafood critters and learn about local species while making art.

At this family-friendly event, children and adults can learn about sustainable fishing practices and meet Tuna Harbor’s longtime fishing families, who have made their livelihoods here for generations harvesting wild seafood from California’s waters. Attendees can also sample chef-prepared seafood tastings from Ironside Fish & Oyster, and enjoy fresh, locally caught seafood.

This event is co-hosted by San Diego Food System Alliance, Slow Food Urban San Diego, California Sea Grant, and Tuna Harbor Dockside Market, and will also feature exhibits from NOAA Southwest Fisheries Science Center, San Diego City College, and various historical societies.
