Seafood Saturday: Fish Art and Outreach

DateSaturday, August 18, 2018 | 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Location

On Saturday August 18, between 10:00am and 12:00pm, there will be a special Seafood Saturday event at the Tuna Harbor Dockside Market, hosted in partnership with Slow Food Urban San Diego. As usual, you can buy seafood directly from San Diego fishermen, "meet your meal" at a live touch tank run by California Sea Grant, and enjoy a sampling of local seafood prepared fresh by local Chef Cindy Quinonez (with support of Loaf & Fish and Slow Food Urban San Diego).

In addition, we'll be hosting a special book event with author and artist Christopher Dewees, California Sea Grant's first extension specialist who is now retired and specializes in the art of Gyotaku, or Japanese fish-printing. Chris will lead a book reading, Gyotaku demo, Q&A session, art activity for kids of all ages, and book signing! Copies of his new book, A Life Among Fishes, will be available for purchase.
