2020 CONFERENCE THEME
Understanding unprecedented changes in California’s marine and coastal environment

California's economy depends on the sustainable use of marine resources, especially in the context of a changing climate.  California's ocean ecosystems are experiencing unprecedented changes including marine heat waves, harmful algal blooms, and shifting distributions of marine species which have profound impacts on fisheries and other marine resources and the coastal communities that rely on them.  As such, understanding, predicting, and forecasting these changes in California's marine and coastal environment is vital to ensure that we are able to effectively respond to changing ocean conditions.

The CalCOFI Virtual Conference 2020 will provide a timely opportunity to share information on the current state and recent changes to the California Current marine ecosystem and to continue to build a community of researchers and practitioners working toward holistically understanding, mitigating, and addressing coastal and marine resource issues along the West Coast.
