Emily Harwitz is a science writer and photographer who enjoys exploring the world—both literally and by writing about the environment and our connection to it. She is a current master’s student in University of California, Santa Cruz’s science communication program and has BA’s in chemistry and Chinese studies from Carnegie Mellon University. Emily has also spent time studying tropical ecology in Costa Rica and the Amazon jungle and working in California’s redwoods. When not writing, Emily is probably playing her flute, drinking tea, or embarking on her next adventure.
