California Sea Grant is seeking a Science Communications Specialist to join our team in La Jolla, California.
This is a dynamic position that will include a mix of science writing, website content creation and editing, and social and multimedia content production that helps tell the story of the program’s scientific research, outreach, and education work. The job duties also include providing analysis on communications activities, and contributing to program-level reporting to funders and partners.
The role will be highly collaborative, and involve working closely with scientists, students, fellows, staff members, journalists, and the general public around California and beyond.
We are searching for someone who is:
- enthusiastic about our program focus areas;
- willing to dig deep to gather information and story ideas;
- able to take projects from idea to reality and manage a shifting workload.
The position is 100%-time with full benefits, and the employee will be based in La Jolla, California at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, which hosts California Sea Grant.
